Production / Machine Operators – Compost Facility

We operate the Southern Hemisphere's largest composting facility, producing premium-quality mushroom compost that supports farms across the country.

About the Role

This is a hands-on, physically active role in a production environment where you'll be trained to operate a variety of machinery and equipment used in compost production.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and monitor production equipment such as conveyor belts, tunnel machines, pulling winches, forklifts, blocking equipment and growing tunnels

  • Perform cleaning and maintenance of machinery and work areas to ensure hygiene and safety

  • Use of tools with hands on tasks during production operation cycles. A mix of machine operation and hands on work.

  • Rotate through different tasks and production areas to build skills and keep the work varied and engaging.

  • Strict site safety and operational protocols, including frequent use of PPE (e.g. respirators, dust masks, eye protection, bump hats, wet wash gear)

  • Conduct basic quality checks and support quality assurance processes.

  • Handle and store materials, including cold storage and raw materials.

  • Operate forklifts and lifting equipment (if licensed)

We're seeking individuals who are reliable, proactive, and ready to contribute to a high-performing team. You don't need formal qualifications—just the right attitude and a willingness to learn.

Ideal Candidates Will Have:

  • A strong work ethic, a collaborative positive attitude and strong commitment to safety practices

  • Excellent punctuality and reliability. Ability to commit to regular early starts 4:00-6:00am

  • Good communication skills to report issues and suggest improvements

  • Good mechanical aptitude is advantageous (no formal qualification required)

  • Experience in Production / Manufacturing in an agricultural setting (preferred but not essential)

  • Ability to take direction and work autonomously. Initiative and willingness to learn and continually improve

  • Good physical fitness and comfort working in a paced, hands-on environment

  • Car and Forklift licence (advantageous)

  • Unrestricted work rights in Australia (citizenship, PR, or valid visa with no work limitations)

  • Potential to progress - We have Team Leaders roles on the horizon.
