The University Department of Rural Health South West is an academic centre based in the South West of Western Australia which focuses on health education, research and workforce strategies to support the recruitment and retention of health professionals in the region. About the Opportunity

We are looking for an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander academic or health professional to join our team at UDRH SW. Using your cultural knowledge, experience, and community connections, you will help shape culturally safe education and training for nursing, midwifery, and allied health students.

You will provide tailored support for Aboriginal students undertaking clinical placements in the South West, while helping create pathways into health courses and research opportunities.

In collaboration with SWAMS, Elders, schools, and local communities, you will contribute your perspective to education, placements, and research, supporting the growth of the Aboriginal health workforce in the region. You will also participate in community-driven research that addresses the health needs of rural and Aboriginal communities.

This is a role where your leadership, insight, and connections will make a meaningful impact on students, the health system, and the future of Aboriginal health in the South West.

  • Capacity to undertake research and deliver projects, including planning, meeting deadlines, and sharing outcomes effectively.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the issues facing rural health services and Aboriginal communities, with a strategic view on how to address these challenges.
