As a Lecturer in the Executive Master of Arts program, you will have the opportunity to teach and contribute to the development of aspiring leaders. You will coordinate and lead the activities of other staff, engage in professional activities, and undertake administration related to your role within the Faculty.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead Innovative Teaching and Learning: Coordinate subjects, supervise tutors, and design cross-disciplinary curriculum.
  • Foster Leadership and Service: Engage in leadership roles, develop institutional partnerships, and participate in committees.

You may be a great fit if:

You have a PhD in a relevant discipline OR requisite professional experience (5+ years), with a track record of teaching management or professional communication, and a commitment to creating an inclusive learning environment.

You will also:

  • Have a humanities or social sciences based background with a working knowledge of project management, budgeting and/or professional communication.
  • Possess the ability to supervise honours and postgraduate theses.
  • Demonstrate high standards of professional and collegial behaviour.
  • Understand diverse student learning orientations and create inclusive environments.
  • Engage in continuing professional development activities.

The Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences (GSHSS) part of the Faculty of Arts at the University of Melbourne, is Australia's largest and most dynamic graduate school of its kind. It offers a diverse range of world-class programs—from the Executive Master of Arts to specialised degrees in cultural management, media, and conservation—designed to foster critical inquiry, creativity, and leadership. With a strong commitment to academic excellence and social impact, GSHSS equips students with the knowledge and professional skills to thrive in a rapidly changing world. The School is housed in the heritage-listed Old Arts Building, featuring collaborative learning spaces and a vibrant intellectual community that supports over 1,600 graduate students annually.
