The Role

Reporting to the General Manager of Finance, the Financial Controller is responsible for overseeing all accounting operations, including month-end general ledger close, accounts receivable and payable, payroll, taxation, and asset/project accounting.

Duties will include:

• Lead, develop and mentor a team of finance professionals, cultivating a high-performance culture focused on collaboration, accountability, and continuous growth.
• Oversee all financial operations across the organisation, including statutory reporting, compliance, BAS and tax lodgements, accounts receivable/payable, payroll, asset valuations, and consolidation journals, while ensuring data integrity and effective use of the TechnologyOne ERP system.
• Lead the external audit process and ensure efficient completion of all compliance activities, including payroll obligations.
• Identify and implement financial risk mitigation strategies, drive performance improvements, and continuously refine internal policies and procedures to align with best practice.
• Drive continuous improvement through process optimisation and automation to enhance efficiency and reduce risk.
• Apply sound knowledge of infrastructure capitalisation criteria and commercial leasing arrangements, including tenancy recharges and outgoings, to support accurate financial reporting and compliance at a corporate level.
• Partner with leaders to align finance initiatives with broader business strategies, ensuring effective communication and impactful outcomes.

The Candidate

• CA or CPA qualified with a strong background in audit or Financial Controller roles
• Strong expertise in accounting standards, financial reporting, risk management, and corporate governance, with a solid track record in ensuring financial compliance.
• Proven leadership experience managing and developing teams.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
• Customer service mindset with a high level of accountability.
• Detail-oriented and highly organised, with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Technically proficient in financial systems and the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
