Why your role matters
The Future Students Senior Coordinator plays a key role within the Indigenous Student Success team at the Nura Gili Centre for Indigenous Programs, leading initiatives that increase the access, enrolment, and participation of Indigenous students across UNSW degree programs. This position is responsible for designing and delivering high-quality engagement activities, development opportunities, and educational services that promote higher education pathways to prospective Indigenous students. Working collaboratively with the Indigenous Student Success team and the wider Nura Gili Centre, the role supports the development of strong relationships and programs that inspire and empower future Indigenous scholars.
The Future Students Senior Coordinator reports to the Employability and External Relations Manager, supports the Deputy Director of Nura Gili, and has no direct reports.
Specific accountabilities include:
- Design, develop and monitor the delivery of Indigenous future student activities, programs and initiatives to achieve team and Nura Gili operational and strategic goals.
- Coordinate and deliver workshops, events, camps and activities that promote education and celebrate Indigenous culture. Deliver high quality engagement across the UNSW footprint area that is evidence informed and community responsive.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of a Nura Gili Indigenous Access Plan that details strategies, actions, timelines and targets that align with the Nura Gili Student Success Plan and has a specialised focus distinct from the existing UNSW Gateway program.
About You:
- This position is open to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander applicants only. - Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
- Demonstrated experience designing and implementing Indigenous programs and activities that result in positive outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities.
- Excellent project/program management skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative.
- Knowledge and understanding of legislation and policies, and broader university opportunities that apply to Indigenous students in the higher education sector, including but not limited to Indigenous Student Success Program (ISSP), scholarships, accommodation and ABSTUDY.
- Demonstrated ability to create positive, vibrant and respectful relationships.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail and the ability to liaise effectively with a range of stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience working with a range of computer systems and applications, including Microsoft Office and CRMs.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and productively within a team, but also to take initiative and work independently while managing competing demands.
Pre-employment checks including a NSW Working with Children's Check are required for this position.
