Head of Projects

About the Role

Midland Brick are seeking a dynamic and strategic leader to join our team as Head of Projects. The ideal candidate will have proven experience overseeing complex, high-impact projects and leading multidisciplinary teams. With a strong focus on safety, operational performance, business growth, and asset optimisation, this role will support stakeholders across manufacturing, logistics, construction, and commercial operations in the bricks and masonry sector.

Yourrole will include:

• Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of business-critical projects from start to finish.
• Manage and mentor a team of project professionals, driving performance and development.
• Work closely with senior leaders to scope and prioritise high-impact initiatives.
• Champion a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Implement effective project systems, tools, and reporting to support delivery.
• Approve budgets, timelines, and project plans, ensuring alignment with business goals.
• Track portfolio performance, manage risks, and report progress to leadership.
• Foster strong relationships across teams in operations, engineering, finance, and sales.
• Maintain clear, consistent communication with all stakeholders throughout project lifecycles.
• Resolve issues quickly to keep projects on track and aligned with objectives.
• Embed Safety in Design and ensure compliance with relevant standards.
• Identify risks early and develop contingency plans to limit operational impact.
• Monitor key success metrics like ROI, efficiency, and downtime reduction.
• Standardise documentation and track progress using Gantt charts and milestones.
• Lead post-project reviews to capture lessons and inform future improvements.

Skills and Experience:

• Tertiary qualification in Project Management, Construction Management or Engineering
• Proven experience in managing projects in a manufacturing, construction, or industrial environment, including leading multiple projects concurrently
• Strong leadership and people management capabilities.
• Excellent planning, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
• Financial acumen, including budget management and cost control.
• Proficient in project management software and tools (e.g., Gantt charts).
• Strong communication, negotiation, and influencing abilities.
• Strong understanding of project management methodologies, tools, and techniques
• Experience working within safety-critical, regulated environments
