Your role within our dedicated postvention suicide support service, StandBy Support After Suicide will allow you to:
- Support communities, individuals and workplaces bereaved by suicide
- Work in Australia's leading postvention suicide program
- Champion the voice of those with lived experience
- Collaborate with stakeholders (internal and external) to build community preparedness and awareness around suicide postvention supports
Joining us, you'll work with a team of dedicated individuals to assist people and communities impacted or bereaved by suicide. The StandBy program is focused on supporting anyone who has been bereaved or impacted by suicide at any stage in their life and is a coordinated community response. The program supports individuals, families, friends, witnesses, first responders, and service providers.
This position is a Full-Time Fixed-Term role till 30 June 2026.

We are looking for a passionate individual with a desire to make a difference. The successful candidate will have:
- An understanding of grief and loss and experience supporting people who are bereaved will be highly regarded
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or demonstrated knowledge, practical experience and skill in critical incident response / psychological first aid
- The ability to communicate sensitively in an authentic, compassionate and respectful manner that takes into consideration the cultural background of the person being supported
- Demonstrated well-developed organisational, time management and administrative skills with the ability to plan, prioritise and meet deadlines
- Demonstrated experience in maintaining professional boundaries while engaging in person-centred work
- Demonstrated awareness of reflective practice and self-care
- Reside within the Hunter region
- Flexibility to travel within work hours (pool vehicle provided)
