Job Description

We're looking for an agile and multiskilled Video Journalist to become our Darwin Correspondent.

Based in the Northern Territory, you'll be responsible for producing compelling local news content daily. Critically, you will also deliver major stories from the region to a national audience as required.

Multiskilling is essential. While prior Video Journalist experience is a plus, we are committed to providing training for the right candidate.

Day to day you will:

  • Identify, shoot, and file impactful stories from the NT for a national audience.
  • Respond to and report live on breaking news events.
  • Produce content that integrates seamlessly across digital, social media, and traditional broadcast platforms.
  • Utilise and continually improve core VJ skills, including camera work, editing, and multimedia production.
  • Actively contribute to a positive, collaborative, and inclusive work environment.
Qualifications

What you'll bring:

  • Demonstrated experience as a Journalist, camera operator, editor, or similar role.
  • The ability to develop and maintain a network of local contacts, and a proven talent for identifying stories of both local and national interest.
  • Strong on-camera presentation, a clear voice, and the willingness to report live when needed.
  • Excellent time management skills and a proven ability to consistently meet tight deadlines.
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of journalistic ethics, legal guidelines, and compliance requirements.
