Inventory Controller
OTR. Making Life Easy.
As an Inventory Controller at OTR, you will play a key role in ensuring accurate and efficient inventory management across our convenience store network. Drawing on your experience, you will oversee end-to-end supply chain activities, analyse inventory data, place accurate orders, and manage replenishment processes. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams to optimise stock levels, reduce discrepancies, and drive data-informed decision-making across the supply chain.
Who We Are
OTR is a revolutionary convenience brand that has grown from a South Australian icon to a national leader in convenience and fuel. Since its inception in 1984, OTR has consistently been amongst the fastest-growing convenience brands in the country, boasting a network of over 200 unique outlets.
Today, OTR is part of the Viva Energy group – an ASX-listed powerhouse with a driving ambition to become Australia's largest convenience retailer. Our combined network of more than 1,000 convenience locations around the country brings together Viva Energy Australia's incredible national footprint and OTR's history of industry-leading innovation. There has never been a more exciting time to join our team as we set out to redefine the retail landscape in Australia.
Your Contributions
- Manage inventory across the retail network with a focus on accuracy, availability, and alignment with demand forecasts.
- Investigate stock discrepancies to identify root causes and ensure data accuracy across legacy and evolving systems.
- Collaborate with Customer Offer, store operations, and warehouse operations to align replenishment plans with business needs.
- Utilise existing inventory management systems, with a transition toward Blue Yonder, to monitor stock movement and inform purchasing decisions.
- Analyse sales, stock, and operational data to support informed decision-making and drive continuous improvement.
- Generate inventory performance reports with insights to reduce stock variance, overstocking, and shrinkage.
- Coordinate with suppliers to ensure on-time, in-full deliveries and proactively manage any supply issues.
- Partner with the finance team to support accurate inventory valuation and reporting.
- Educate and support store teams on inventory procedures and system usage to enhance operational consistency.
- Maintain a proactive, solutions-focused approach to inventory challenges, working independently and across departments.
- Use Microsoft Excel and inventory platforms to manage stock levels, generate reports, and ensure data integrity.
What we offer
- Join a dynamic team at a renowned South Australian company, known for their innovation and outside-the-box thinking.
- Be a part of the journey, with countless opportunities as we rapidly expand into a nationwide retail powerhouse.
- Access to exclusive staff benefits via our OTR App.
- Access to our free and confidential Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
What we are looking for
- Proven experience as an Inventory Controller or similar role, preferably in the retail or convenience store industry.
- Experience supporting system transitions or upgrades, ideally involving demand planning or fulfilment platforms such as Blue Yonder.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
- Proficiency in using inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with internal and external stakeholders.
- Confidence in generating and interpreting inventory performance reports and using insights to drive improvement.
- A proactive problem-solving mindset and ability to take initiative in resolving inventory-related issues.
- Comfortable working independently and collaboratively across departments, including warehouse operations, store teams, finance, and Customer Offer.
If you are looking for your next opportunity in a growing organisation and you meet the criteria to be successful in the role, we would encourage you to apply for this exciting position.
