The Role:

• Lead the design and deployment of AWS infrastructure using AWS CDK (in TypeScript, Python, or preferred language).
• Mentor junior cloud engineers or engineers without cloud experience and help shape internal IaC standards and patterns.
• Identify areas of inefficiency, underutilization, or misconfiguration in cloud environments and recommend improvements or cost-saving opportunities.
• Standardize infrastructure provisioning and automate deployments across multiple environments.
• Demonstrate proficiency in applying industry-standard patterns, architectural principles, tools, and software.
• Participate with the team and our devs to design, provision, deploy, monitor and continuously improve our development, test/staging, and production environments, toolchains, frameworks, and processes.
• Rapidly prototype and develop proof of concepts to validate solutions.
• Automate testing, quality gates, and governance controls within DevOps pipelines.
• Promptly triage production issues within SLA boundaries, prioritising cost-effective resolutions.
• Communicate, Advocate, and Articulate technical concepts clearly through design, documentation, presentations and code.
• Implement source code management, continuous test, and deployment orchestration.
• Monitor and adjust our cloud infrastructure to ensure security, availability, and scalability.
• Participate in driving Cloud and Platform strategy and architecture, ensuring solutions and services are designed for reusability, extensibility, and changelead practices for test automation and API-driven services.
• Collaborate with the team to improve engineering tools, systems and processes.
• Code, Automate, streamline, and lead practices for full automation, test automation, and APIs

About You:

• Extensive experience in cloud engineering.
• Proven ability of leading infrastructure projects or modernization initiatives.
• Previous experience working in a SaaS organisation is advantageous.
• Strong expertise in AWS CDK for building infrastructure as reusable, testable code.
• Automation mindset: reduce toil, improve reliability, and eliminate manual provisioning.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.
• Ability to analyze cloud infrastructure usage and reduce unnecessary spend.
• Networking: Strong understanding of cloud networking concepts, including VPCs, subnets, routing, load balancing, and DNS.
• Security: Knowledge of cloud security best practices, identity and access management (IAM), and security tools and services.
• Operating Systems: Experience with Linux and/or Windows Server operating systems.
