We are seeking an experienced Clinical Nurse Manager / NUM to lead our nursing team and oversee day-to-day clinical operations. Reporting directly to the General Manager, South Australia, this role is central to delivery of efficient, cost-effective, high-quality patient care.
About the role:
The Clinical Nurse Manager (CNM/NUM) provides clinical leadership and day to day clinical oversight of perioperative functions, including admissions, theatre, recovery and discharge. The CNM/NUM will work closely with the General Manager to achieve optimal clinical and commercial outcomes, with delegated responsibility for staff supervision, resource planning, patient care and clinical outcomes.
In this role you will:
- Provide day-to-day leadership and operational management of the nursing team.
- Exercising sound clinical judgement, oversee workforce planning, rostering, and the allocation of staff to ensure efficient theatre utilisation, underpinned by safe, efficient, and patient-centred care.
- Foster and maintain strong, collaborative working relationships with VMO, anaesthetists, and their support teams.
- Support and mentor nursing staff to achieve high standards of performance and professional development.
- Identify, promote and implement quality improvement opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with all safety, infection control, accreditation and licencing requirements.
- Lead risk management initiatives, WHS practices, and continuous education programs.
About you
You will be a current nurse manager or a senior nurse and aspiring leader who brings both clinical expertise and strong leadership skills. You are comfortable taking charge of daily operations and confident in your decisions. You support your team and ensure patients receive safe, exceptional care.
- Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration.
- Significant perioperative or day surgery experience (ophthalmology experience highly regarded).
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Demonstrated ability to drive operational efficiency through effective resource management.
- Strong understanding of NQSHS standards, and clinical governance frameworks.
- Postgraduate qualifications in management and/or perioperative nursing (desirable).
- Current National Police Check and Working with Children Check.
