Mining Manager Curragh North

CORONADO GLOBAL RESOURCES is a leading international producer of high-quality Metallurgical Coal. Our global operations are located in two of the world's largest and most productive metallurgical coal basins, the Bowen Basin in Queensland and the Central Appalachian region of the US.

We are seeking an experienced Mining Manager - Curragh North to take charge of all mining activities, including drilling, blasting, overburden removal, and coal mining. This is a career-defining leadership role, offering clear accountability and the autonomy to shape mining operations for long-term success.

About the Role

As Mining Manager - Curragh North, you will take full ownership of all surface mining activities at one of Australia's most significant metallurgical coal operations. Reporting to the General Manager - Curragh North, you'll lead a diverse team and manage major contractor partnerships to deliver exceptional safety and production outcomes.

This is a career-defining leadership role offering full P&L accountability for mining operations and autonomy to implement innovative mining solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Leadership

• Deliver annual production targets while maintaining industry-leading safety standards
• Optimise drill & blast, overburden removal, and coal extraction processes
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and reduce costs
• Ensure full compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements

Strategic Planning

• Collaborate with site leadership to align mining operations with business objectives
• Develop and execute short and long-term mine plans
• Identify and implement technology solutions to improve operational efficiency
• Lead annual budget planning and monthly forecasting processes

People & Performance

• Build and mentor high-performing teams across multiple disciplines
• Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and operational excellence
• Manage strategic contractor relationships to optimise performance and value

Commercial Management

• Oversee mining contracts worth $200M+ annually
• Drive cost optimisation without compromising safety or quality
• Analyse operational data to identify improvement opportunities

About You

You are a results-driven leader with a passion for operational excellence and a proven ability to manage large-scale mining operations. With a strong focus on safety, efficiency, and innovation, you thrive in dynamic environments and have the expertise to drive high performance across teams and contractor partnerships.

Key Experience & Qualifications

• Extensive experience in mining operations in leadership roles
• Strong expertise in draglines, drill & blast, and managing large mining contracts.
• Proven track record in leading high-performing teams in a complex, fast-paced environment.
• Commercial acumen with strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
• SSE qualification, along with tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering or a related discipline(preferred)
