About the Opportunity

Are you passionate about making a meaningful impact in adult mental health care? Join our dynamic and supportive team at Bankstown as a Clinical Psychologist, where you'll deliver high-quality, evidence-based psychological services to adults experiencing complex mental health conditions.

In this role, you will:

  • Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments and develop tailored treatment plans.
  • Provide therapeutic interventions and coordinate referrals to appropriate services.
  • Collaborate closely with consumers, their families, and support networks to promote recovery and wellbeing.
  • Contribute to clinical documentation and participate in multidisciplinary case reviews.

You'll be part of a highly collaborative team of psychologists working alongside social workers, occupational therapists, nurses, and mental health doctors. The role also includes opportunities to:

  • Supervise junior clinicians and students.
  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives and clinical research.
  • Pursue ongoing professional development and training.

Experience in the Gold Card Clinic and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) program is highly valued, as these are key components of the role.

What You'll be Doing

To deliver specialist psychological and psychosocial assessment, diagnosis, interventions and consultation in order to address the needs of consumers who are living with complex mental health problems and disorders.

The role also participates in the evaluation of clinical outcomes of services and assists in the development and provision of education and training programs. Additionally, the role supervises Psychologists and other disciplines working within the LHD according to organisational needs.

Where You'll Be Working

SWSLHD Community Mental Health Services provide comprehensive, community-based mental health care across South Western Sydney.

These services cater to different age groups, including children, adolescents, adults, and older persons, ensuring specialised care throughout various life stages. The multidisciplinary teams offer a range of supports, including mental health assessments, crisis intervention, care coordination, and therapy. They work closely with inpatient services, GPs, and other community organisations to provide holistic care.

  • Full registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia. Completion of an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council accredited postgraduate Clinical Psychology qualification of no less than two years full time duration or recognised equivalent.
  • Describe your experience in delivering evidence-based clinical interventions, including assessments, treatment planning, and referrals. How do you ensure your approach remains collaborative and inclusive of consumers, their families, and natural supports?
  • Provide an example of how you have contributed to a multidisciplinary team, including any leadership, supervision, or quality improvement activities. How did your input enhance clinical outcomes or service delivery?
  • Please describe your level of training and experience in delivering Dialectical Behaviour Therapy to individuals or groups, and your attitude towards working within a DBT framework in therapy?
  • Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
