We are seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to coordinate and manage the operational requirements of our centralised Forensic Client Liaison Division.

Please note that Forensic Science Queensland has recently been through a Machinery of Government change, and as of 1 July 2024, was administratively assigned to the Department of Justice.

As a key leader, you will ensure the delivery of quality forensic services, overseeing exhibit receipt and handling processes in line with FSQ's policies, guidelines, and best practices.

You will lead a multi-disciplinary team, ensuring the highest standards of service provision while developing and nurturing a positive organisational culture. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the strategic direction and operational efficiency of Forensic Science Queensland, supporting the division in its mission to become a world-class provider of forensic services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team, supporting staff development and HR processes.
  • Oversee exhibit receipt and handling, ensuring chain of custody compliance and meeting client needs.
  • Contribute to strategic planning and FSQ's vision of innovation and excellence in forensic services.
  • Develop policies, procedures, and training to ensure best practices in forensic client liaison.
  • Identify and mitigate operational risks, ensuring compliance with NATA/ISO accreditation.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, fostering strong relationships and customer focus.
  • Continuously review and improve policies and practices, ensuring compliance with legislative and accreditation standards.

Skills and Experience:

  • Proven leadership and management experience in forensic science or similar fields.
  • Expertise in forensic chain of custody and client relationship management.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and accreditation standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead change in a complex, regulated environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with diverse stakeholders.
  • Relevant undergraduate degree in medical science, forensic science, applied science, or related field.
  • Postgraduate qualifications or 5 years' relevant forensic/scientific experience preferred.
