Federation Tuckpointing is an award winning company, started to help meet the demand for restoration and maintenance of brickwork and limestone. Our team of skilled tradesmen can handle anything from rising damp repair, to limestone restoration and lintel replacement. We have been operating continuously since starting in 1989.

About the Role:

The business is currently looking to acquire a full time, highly skilled, physically fit bricklayer to perform duties that include but are not limited to the following:

· Analyzing and interpreting building plans.

· Cut out and replace fretting or damaged bricks and replace them with new ones whilst matching the original joint and mortar colour

· Create neat, clean joints for mortar re-pointing

· Rising damp repairs; cutting out the bottom row of bricks, cleaning the cavity, installing waterproof membrane and re-bricking to match the original work

· Installing Helifix rods for crack repairs

· Brickwork relating to wall alterations and installing and replacing lintels

· Repair and re-build leaning or cracked brick walls.

· Interpreting work orders and determining the materials required.

· Measuring distance from reference points.

· Calculating angles and determining the vertical and horizontal alignment of courses.

· Laying bricks using mortar as a binder and a trowel to level.

· Fastening bricks with wire clamps or cement.

· Working safely on scaffolds and swing stages at various heights.

· Using equipment and tools effectively to perform basic construction tasks.

About You:

To be considered you must have:

· Minimum of 1-2 years' relevant work experience

· Relevant Australian qualification or overseas equivalent

· Ability to visualize and implement aesthetic patterns into a construction design;

· Passionate, with excellent craftsmanship skills, a good eye for detail, and the strength to work on construction sites;

· Reliable, a good attitude and work well in a team environment;

· Good communication skill.
