About the role

We are seeking a highly organised and skilled part time Bookkeeper / Financial Officer to join our team at Index Medicolegal in Spring Hill, QLD. This is a casual role, offering flexibility and the opportunity to take on a variety of financial and administrative tasks. As a key member of our accounting team, you will play a vital role in supporting the overall financial management and smooth operation of our business.

What you'll be doing

  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records, including accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, and general ledger entries
  • Preparing and processing payroll for our team of administrative and contracting staff
  • Assisting with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, statements and budgets.
  • Preparation of special purpose financial statements for Board Meetings
  • Liaising with external accountants and auditors to ensure compliance with financial regulations
  • Identifying opportunities for process improvements and contributing to the overall efficiency of our financial operations

What we're looking for

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a bookkeeping or accounting role, preferably within a professional services or small business environment
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and bookkeeping best practices
  • Proficiency in using Xero accounting software.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in your work
  • Hybrid role, working mostly remotely with some in office time.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • A commitment to continual learning and a desire to contribute to the overall success of the team
