We are seeking a skilled and reliable Maintenance Lead to coordinate and carry out day-to-day maintenance and grounds work across our sites. This hands-on role is central to ensuring our facilities remain safe, functional, and welcoming for the people we support. Based in Lismore, you'll work closely with the Assets & Facilities Manager, supporting maintenance workers and contributing to the efficient delivery of maintenance services.
About the role
As Maintenance Lead, you'll combine practical maintenance duties with coordination of daily schedules, ensuring tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. You'll take pride in your workmanship, support new and trainee staff in developing their skills, and uphold our commitment to safety, teamwork, and quality.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Performing a variety of maintenance and grounds tasks such as mowing, pruning, weeding, minor building repairs, and general handyman duties.
- Operating and maintaining tools and equipment, ensuring they are serviced, safe, and fit for purpose.
- Coordinating daily work schedules and allocating priorities to ensure timely completion of jobs.
- Supporting and guiding new and trainee staff through safe, effective work practices.
- Liaising with subcontractors, suppliers, and the Assets & Facilities Manager to ensure smooth workflow.
- Identifying maintenance issues and contributing to practical, cost-effective solutions.
- Purchasing and storing materials and equipment safely and economically.
- Ensuring all work practices comply with Work Health and Safety (WHS) standards and organisational policies.
What we're looking for
Essential
- Relevant qualifications or equivalent experience in maintenance, property, or grounds work.
- Demonstrated experience in carrying out a variety of maintenance and handyman tasks.
- Sound understanding of WHS and manual handling requirements.
- Good communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to support others and work independently.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage time and set work priorities.
- Basic computer skills, including use of Microsoft 365 (Outlook, SharePoint, Word, Excel).
- Current NSW Driver's Licence.
Desirable
- Previous experience in a similar coordinating or mentoring role.
- Experience working within community, aged care, or disability settings.
- Experience supporting trainees or junior team members.
