HomeRepair is a wholly owned subsidiary of Suncorp Group Ltd (Suncorp), a major general insurer in Australia and New Zealand. Our primary business is to provide residential repair and Make Safe services in Australia for insurance claims made by Suncorp's home insurance customers.
About the role
Reporting to the National Assessing Manager you will be responsible for leading and developing the desktop assessing team, providing expert advice on building standards, codes, technical repair practices, and supporting complex claim supervision requirements.
This role will champion virtual assessment initiatives, facilitate upskilling programs, and serve as the central technical resource for case managers, trades, and assessors across the country.
Responsibilities
- Drive upskilling and ongoing technical development, expanding the team's national capability beyond state-based operations.
- Provide authoritative advice on building codes, standards, and best practices for repair and rectification.
- Review complex scopes for escape of liquid claims and structural repairs, ensuring correct and appropriate methodology.
- Act as the direct technical support for escape of liquid assessors, case managers, and trades when the original assessor is unavailable or unable to respond to a complex query.
- Oversee the supervision of complex repairs, including escape of liquid and either complex or structural claims.
- Develop and promote virtual assessment opportunities, especially with regional builders and for theft claims.
Skills & experience
- Qualifications in building, construction, or engineering
- Certifications in insurance or claims management (desirable)
- Extensive knowledge of building standards, codes, and repair practices
- Demonstrated experience in building, construction, or property insurance assessing
- Proven track record of managing complex claims and technical supervision (desirable)
- Experience in virtual assessment methodologies (desirable)
