About The Role
The Industry Development Project Officer – Emerging & Critical Technologies supports the growth of South Australian industry by contributing to the development and implementation of strategies, policies, and projects across cyber security, artificial intelligence, quantum technologies, and advanced manufacturing. The role involves research, analysis, and stakeholder engagement to identify opportunities, drive cross-sector collaboration, and support economic growth and industry capability uplift.
Key Competencies
To apply and succeed in the role, you will have:
- Extensive and contemporary knowledge of critical technologies including artificial intelligence, quantum, and advanced manufacturing concepts, and economic growth opportunities for South Australia's critical technologies sector.
- Experience in leading and managing the development, delivery and evaluation of programs, projects and services which engage and promote innovation and growth within the critical technologies.
- Demonstrated experience in the delivery of high-quality industry engagement and development initiatives and in the provision of a responsive, client-centred approach to the resolution of issues with internal and external stakeholders.
- High-level interpersonal and communication skills with a significant capacity to tailor insights to a diverse range of stakeholders across government, academia and industry, to advise, consult and negotiate successful outcomes and develop recommendations and documentation.
Remuneration
Competitive salary $108,109 to $116,864 p.a. plus superannuation

Qualifications
- Essential: Nil
- Desirable:
- Extensive expertise in emerging and critical technologies including quantum computing, AI/ML, robotics, cybersecurity, space technologies, and advanced materials.
- Strong capability in advanced manufacturing, encompassing Industry 4.0, additive manufacturing, automation, and digital twin technologies.
- Proficient in technology foresighting and horizon scanning to identify disruptive trends and strategic opportunities.
Special Conditions
- The role will be offered full-time (1.0 FTE), initial 24-month term contract.
- Satisfactory Department of Human Services Criminal History Check or National Police Check (NPC) required prior to employment.
