About The Role
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Health and Safety Risk and Assurance Lead to join our team. This pivotal Line 2 role within the Three Lines of Defence model provides independent oversight, challenge, and assurance over the organisation's health and safety risk management practices.

The role is accountable for proactively managing the corporate health and safety risk profile, driving compliance with the Critical Risk Management Framework, and leading the design and delivery of a robust assurance and audit program.

Working in close partnership with Major Projects HSE teams and operational leaders, this position ensures that a fit-for-purpose governance and assurance strategy is embedded across all stages of project delivery and business operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of the Corporate HS Risk Management Framework.
  • Apply Bowtie risk analysis to identify, assess, and monitor critical controls for high-consequence risks.
  • Maintain and update the corporate HS risk profile, ensuring alignment with enterprise risk management processes.
  • Design and deliver the annual HS assurance and audit program, aligned with corporate priorities and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct independent audits, reviews, and deep dives into high-risk areas, including Major Projects and operational sites.
  • Monitor, measure, and report on the effectiveness of HS controls and compliance obligations.

About You

  • Tertiary qualifications in Health and Safety, Risk Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 8–10 years' experience in health and safety risk, assurance, or audit roles.
  • Deep understanding of the Three Lines of Defence model and Bowtie risk analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and executing assurance programs in complex, high-risk environments.
  • Strong knowledge of critical risk management frameworks and regulatory requirements.
  • Accredited H&S or E auditor (SAI lead auditor qualification level or equivalent - Lead Auditor certification
