Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia Industry Resolutions Pty Ltd ta LiftWorthy Full time $60,000 - $80,000 per year

About Us:

LiftWorthy is a family-owned business specialising in expert crane inspections, certifications, and maintenance. We provide tailored solutions for industries including Mining, Oil & Gas, Construction, Renewable Energy, and Primary Production. With a strong focus on rural and remote Australia, our skilled team services clients across the Northern Territory, Western Australia, Queensland, and New South Wales.

While LiftWorthy operates nationwide, we're seeking a Trade Assistant based in Darwin to help keep our Northern Territory operations running smoothly.

We pride ourselves on our supportive, down-to-earth team culture and offer genuine opportunities to grow your skills and career, all while enjoying the incredible lifestyle that the Northern Territory has to offer.

About the Role:

We're looking for a motivated Trade Assistant to join our Darwin team. This is a hands-on, varied position that suits someone who enjoys field work and isn't afraid to roll up their sleeves. You'll work across cranes, lifting gear, and heavy machinery, with full training provided.

If you have a basic understanding of mechanical work and a strong desire to learn, this role is an excellent stepping-stone. We're open to supporting the right person to move from Trade Assistant to apprentice: start with six months as a TA and, if you're keen to progress, transition into a first-year apprenticeship.

At LiftWorthy, we're committed to helping our team grow. Through practical training, certification programs, and one-on-one mentorship, you'll gain new skills, expand your knowledge, and set yourself up for long-term career development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist qualified mechanics with servicing, maintenance, and repairs on cranes, lifting gear, and heavy machinery.
  • Support diagnosis of basic hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical issues under supervision.
  • Keep work areas clean, organised, and compliant with all safety standards and company procedures.
  • Help prepare and complete maintenance reports and job documentation accurately.
  • Contribute as part of a collaborative team while developing the confidence to tackle tasks independently.
  • Show initiative, a strong work ethic, and a willingness to learn new skills and take on additional training.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Previous hands-on or mechanical trade exposure (e.g., workshop, automotive, or heavy equipment) is an advantage but not essential.
  • Genuine interest in pursuing a Diesel Mechanic apprenticeship.
  • Current C-class driver's licence (essential); HR licence is a plus.
  • Forklift, EWP, or other high-risk licences are desirable but not required—training opportunities are available.
  • Positive attitude, reliability, and a commitment to safe work practices.

Benefits:

  • Above-award wages, negotiable based on experience.
  • Additional site allowances and higher rates for remote work.
  • Structured upskilling and apprenticeship pathway – start as a Trade Assistant with the option to transition into a first-year Diesel Mechanic apprenticeship after approximately six months.
  • Ongoing skills development and formal training, including certifications and mentorship from experienced mechanics.
  • Work in a supportive, family-oriented environment that values your growth, well-being, and long-term career progression.

Location:

This position is based in Darwin, NT, with occasional travel to remote locations.

Start Date: ASAP

If you're ready to join a growing business, build your skills, and experience everything the Top End has to offer, we'd love to hear from you. We're flexible with arrangements, so even if you're just curious, get in touch to chat about the options.
