The Team
Our Planning and Economics skills group, within the national CFI practice, operates at the heart of this purpose, advising our public purpose clients on the projects that shape Australia's future. This includes the delivery of end-to-end services for infrastructure and property - from planning and economics through to procurement and delivery - to support Australia's growth today, and tomorrow. Within the Planning and Economics skills group, our
Transport Modelling & Analytics
capability provides specialist transport demand modelling, analytics and planning services to support public-purpose clients right across Australia. Working collaboratively with our clients and other related service offerings within Scyne, our transport modelling assists with the clear identification, understanding and articulation of the case for change as well as the design and planning of transport solutions and estimation of the benefits of a proposed policy or investment. Job Description
Due to growth in the business, we currently have an exciting opportunity for a talented early-career professional to join our
Transport Modelling & Analytics
capability in an Associate or Senior Associate role, ideally with 1 to 3 years of experience in the industry, with consideration to the right candidate being trained to a commensurate level.
Overall key responsibilities of this role include, but are not exclusive to:
- Strategic transport modelling and demand forecasting
- Data analysis and analytics
- Land use and integrated transport planning
- Transport model reviews
- Communication of outcomes (written and verbal) to key stakeholders
The day-to-day activities in this role (dependent on experience and business requirements) include:
- Working as part of a national team advising public purpose clients on high profile transport infrastructure, policy, planning and precinct projects.
- Undertaking hands-on technical activities to support transport modelling and forecasting for the planning and evaluation of transport infrastructure projects.
- Contributing towards the development and refinement of transport and freight models to forecast demand and assess the potential impact and benefits of various transport policies and infrastructure investments. This also includes further development of Scyne's internal modelling tools.
- Conducting detailed data analytics and data visualisation to support strategic decision-making, planning policies, option analysis and communication of model inputs and outputs. This type of analysis is often undertaken using software tools such as Python programming, Alteryx, Tableau, PowerBI, cloud computing services and GIS/geospatial tools - experience using one or multiple of these tools is highly regarded.
- Preparing high-quality, easily understandable project reports, tender submissions, presentations and documentation to support project deliverables and objectives.
- Planning, organising and delivering tasks across multiple projects.
- Contributing to a range of project workstreams as part of a team ensuring scope, quality and program is maintained.
- Potential to gain broader skills and experience in the areas of - Data and Artificial Intelligence (AI) across a range of industry sectors, business case development and writing, and the economic analysis of transport and infrastructure projects.

Qualifications
Technically, you will bring to the position:
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field with a strong emphasis on quantitative analysis and problem solving such as Engineering (particularly civil / transport engineering), Mathematics, Statistics, Data science/analytics, Economics, urban/transport planning or Software programming.
- Strong attention to detail and excellence in undertaking analytical tasks.
- Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively within a team.
- Ability to liaise with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and high presentation standards.
- Strong abilities in communicating complex data and modelling outcomes to varied audiences, ensuring clarity and actionable understanding.
- Industry experience in transport and traffic modelling, transport planning, geospatial data analytics, transport economics or a similar field is highly regarded.
- Previous experience using industry-standard transport modelling tools such as OpenPaths (Emme and/or Cube), PTV Visum and Aimsun is highly regarded, but not essential.
- A proactive approach to learning, with the ability to quickly adapt and acquire new technical and analytical skills in response to evolving project needs and emerging tools/technology.
