The Role

As a Crisis Support Worker, you will be responsible for the provision of case coordination for high-risk clients engaged through our Domestic & Family Violence Crisis Accommodation program in Brisbane. Employed to provide holistic support for women and children throughout all facets of the client journey from intake to exit, an inherent requirement of this role is to provide client centered, strengths based and trauma informed approach to case management focusing on individualised support plans and risk assessments.

A key focus of this role is the provision of practical and emotional support to assist clients in facilitating their navigation through crisis whilst also planning for their future. You will provide assistance in connecting with the appropriate housing, financial resources, health services both physical and mental and assist in enhancing daily living skills.

Must be flexible to work a rotating roster that requires shift work (8:00 AM – 4:00 PM, 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM), weekend and public holiday shifts from 8:00 AM -12:00 PM and available for backfilling and on- call shifts when required.

We have two vacancies for the role, both based in Greater Brisbane.

  1. Permanent, Full-time position (38 hours per week)

  2. Permanent, Part-time position (19 hours per week)

To be successful in the role, you will meet the following criteria:

  • Minimum Certificate III in Community Services or related field (Mandatory)
  • Hold a current Blue Card or willing to apply for one (Mandatory)
  • Hold a current, valid driver's licence (Mandatory)
  • Knowledge of and ability to work within relevant legislation and guidelines relating to the delivery of specialist DFV services
  • Previous experience as a Support Worker or equivalent within the DFV support sector or related field
  • Ability to deliver advocacy on behalf of clients and always ensure confidentiality of client information
  • Ability to work unsupervised at times as well as an effective team member
  • Contribute positively within a team environment
  • Demonstrate a friendly, positive attitude, with a willingness to learn
  • Effective communication and time management skills
  • Demonstrate genuine respect for all people regardless of their situation
  • Understanding of risk management principles including current WHS legislation and regulations
  • COVID-19 vaccination status is recommended for this role but not a mandatory requirement.
  • Understanding of and commitment to the philosophy of the St Vincent de Paul Society Queensland and an ability to work in accordance with policies and procedures to promote the values and mission of the Society
