The Opportunity//

Join a leading multi-discipline design engineering consultancy delivering complex projects across the mining sector. We're seeking a skilled Lead Level Mechanical Designer to lead the spatial and functional design of plant and infrastructure layouts. This role will be reporting to the Design Manager and is responsible for driving the development and execution of high-quality, innovative, and practical technical designs across multiple engineering projects.

Key Accountabilities//

• Lead mechanical layout design for mineral processing and materials handling systems.
• Oversee 3D modelling and drafting using Bentley tools (MicroStation, OpenPlant).
• Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure integrated, clash-free designs.
• Incorporate site constraints and constructability into layouts; support brownfield upgrades.
• Contribute to EPC/EPCM deliverables, ensuring design intent through execution.
• Engage with clients to translate requirements into practical solutions.
• Mentor junior designers and manage drafting standards and resource allocation.
• Ensure compliance with Australian Standards, safety-in-design, and regulatory codes.
• Drive continuous improvement in design efficiency and collaboration.

What You'll Bring//

• 10+ years in mechanical design, with a focus on process and materials handling layouts.
• Experience in greenfield and brownfield projects, and EPC/EPCM delivery from concept to commissioning.
• Strong leadership in multi-disciplinary design coordination.
• Proficient in 2D/3D modelling (preferably MicroStation/OpenPlant) and design integration.
• Solid understanding of mechanical systems, piping, and equipment layout.
• Detail-oriented, organised, and adaptable to changing project scopes.
• Familiar with Australian Standards and mining design codes
