Senior Hydraulic Engineer – Building Services | Sustainability & Energy

Location: Southeast Melbourne, VIC

Type: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: $120,000 – $130,000 package

We're looking for a Senior Hydraulic Engineer to join our growing Building Services team and contribute to projects that support Net Zero outcomes, future-ready buildings, and sustainable infrastructure.

As a senior member of the building services group, you'll lead the design and delivery of high-quality hydraulic systems for a wide range of projects including commercial, education, health, local government and infrastructure developments. You'll collaborate closely with mechanical, electrical and sustainability engineers to deliver integrated, efficient, and innovative design solutions — from early concept through to construction and commissioning.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading hydraulic design, documentation and coordination (water, sanitary, stormwater, gas, fire & trade waste systems)
  • Managing project delivery from concept through to completion
  • Working closely with clients, architects, and other consultants to deliver sustainable outcomes
  • Supporting energy transition and Net Zero design principles in building systems
  • Providing technical leadership and mentoring to junior staff
  • Liaising with contractors and stakeholders during design and construction phases
  • Contributing to design reviews, tender documentation and project delivery

About You:

You're an experienced engineer who enjoys leading projects, mentoring others, and seeing designs come to life. You'll have a strong interest in sustainability and the future of the built environment.

Skills & Experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical or Civil Engineering (or related discipline)
  • 5+ years' experience in hydraulic design within the building services sector
  • A background or experience in mechanical services highly regarded
  • Sound knowledge of Australian Standards and NCC
  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD or similar design tools
  • Strong communication and coordination skills with clients and consultants
  • CPEng or progress toward chartership preferred
