Are you passionate about innovative technology and eager to make an impact in the exciting world of Small Uncrewed Aerial Systems (SUAS)? HighCom Technology is seeking a motivated Drone (SUAS) Maintenance Technician and Remote Pilot to join our Canberra based Operations Team.

HighCom Technology supplies Australian Defence and National Security Agencies with world-leading Small Uncrewed Arial Systems (SUAS) and Sensor Payloads, and provides local Program and Engineering Management, Systems Integration, Maintenance, Composite Repairs, and Logistics Support Services. About the Role

In this dynamic position, you will play a critical role in maintaining and enhancing SUAS performance. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Maintenance Support
    : Testing and troubleshooting at SUAS component and system levels.
  • Flight Test Support
    : Participating in post-repair flight testing and validating system performance.
  • Composite Repairs:
    Performing high-quality structural and cosmetic repairs on SUAS airframes.
  • Innovation
    : Working on modifications, upgrades and enhancements to extract the full potential of SUAS and related systems.
  • Workshop Maintenance
    : Ensuring a safe, organised, and well-equipped workspace.

What We Are Looking For

Experience or qualifications in the below areas are desirable, but a positive attitude may set you apart from the rest; the right candidate will be considered, and training will be provided.

  • Familiarity with SUAS systems, components and troubleshooting processes.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and follow repair manuals.
  • Knowledge of composite repair methods (e.g., wet layup, vacuum bagging, adhesive bonding).
  • Experience working with composite materials such as Kevlar, carbon fiber, fiberglass, and resins.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with the flexibility and adaptability to manage multiple priorities and activities simultaneously.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Certificate III in Engineering: Composite Repairs (or equivalent), or Electrotechnology (or equivalent).
  • Remote Pilot License (RePL).
