The First Peoples' Assembly of Victoria (the Assembly) is the voice of Aboriginal people in Victoria in the next stage of the Treaty process. It is made up of Victorian Traditional Owners, elected by Aboriginal Communities, for Aboriginal Communities, to advance our rights, interests and benefits.
The Assembly's objective is to promote the self-determination and empowerment of Traditional Owners and Aboriginal Victorians through the Treaty process by:
Acting as the First Peoples' Representative Body to negotiate and agree Statewide Treaty and Interim Agreements,
Acting as the Aboriginal Representative Body to support Treaty negotiations (including administering the Self-Determination Fund),
Enabling Traditional Owners and Aboriginal Victorians to exercise sovereignty, the right to self-determination and other rights; including those contained in the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP).

THE ROLE:
This is a 5-month role to support the People and Culture team in their recruitment and HRIS needs.
KEY DUTIES:
· Collaborating with HR managers and other stakeholders to support HRIS needs.
· Analysing HRIS performance metrics and resolving application issues.
· Creating user accounts, managing access, and updating employee information.
· Auditing HR processes and documents, including payroll administration, staff turnover, hiring, and termination of service, when required.
· Provide administrative support for recruitment of staff including organising interviews.
· Maintain a consistently high level of confidentiality across all aspects of responsibilities, safeguarding sensitive information, data, and stakeholder interactions in accordance with established protocols and legal requirements.
· Undertake other duties as directed.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
· Previous minimum of two years of experience in an HR role, with experience in recruitment, employee relations, learning and development, and recognition and rewards preferred.
· Comprehensive knowledge of Victorian Aboriginal Communities and organisations.
· Demonstrated skill and capacity to work effectively and with integrity in the context of a Victorian Traditional Owner Representative Body.
· Able to navigate complex relationships and act in accordance with the Assembly's values.
· Able to review, recommend and implement HRIS initiatives that seek efficiencies either from a process or systems perspective.
· High-level attention to detail with a focus on maintaining accuracy and integrity of administration processes and data input.
· Able to work within strict deadlines, timelines and reporting timetables.
· Skilled at multitasking across a variety of administration functions, projects & tasks.
· Well-developed verbal and written communication skills.
· Competent in the use of Microsoft Office Suite.
SALARY & TERM:
Fixed Term Contract for 5 months ending February 2026.
Salary from $97,955 per annum (full-time equivalent) plus superannuation plus salary packaging, based on experience and expertise.
Location
This role is based in our Collingwood office with the option to work hybrid.
