About the Role

Are you an experienced legal professional looking to make a meaningful impact in a purpose-driven organisation? SSI Group is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to deliver high-quality, commercially focused legal advice across a diverse range of matters.

In this role, you'll manage your own caseload and provide expert guidance on contracts, government tenders, property and leasing, employment law, privacy, intellectual property, disputes, and compliance. You'll also monitor legislative changes, lead legal education initiatives, and develop templates to improve efficiency.

Beyond advisory work, you'll have the opportunity to supervise junior staff, engage with external counsel, and contribute to practice management improvements. This is a dynamic position where you'll collaborate with internal stakeholders and play a key role in shaping SSI's legal strategy.

About You

You're a confident, solutions-focused legal professional who thrives in fast-paced environments. You bring:

  • Law degree and an Unrestricted Australian Practising Certificate.
  • 7+ years post-admission experience, including at least 5 years in commercial/corporate law and contract negotiation.
  • Strong ability to interpret legal requirements and provide practical, commercially sound advice.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex issues in plain English.
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities and deliver under pressure.
  • High attention to detail, initiative, and a collaborative mindset.

Desirable experience includes employment law, property law, technology contracts, and work in an NGO, government, or in-house setting.
