We are a proud Australian-owned, family-run business with a rich history spanning over 100 years. For the past 30 years, we have been a leading wholesale supplier of bakery products. We supply delicious, quality, baked pastry and bread products to the hospitality and retail sectors 6 days a week.

Artisan sourdough breads, banana bread, muffins, light buttery croissants, baked cheesecakes, donuts, tarts, protein balls, biscuits, slices... over 600 high-quality products.

The 120 employees at Fergys are very diverse, friendly, and inclusive, with a range of ages, cultural backgrounds and talents. Due to strong growth, we are seeking to hire a warehouse 2IC for our Dandenong South facility.

Minimum 1-2 years of warehouse supervisory or leadership experience is required for this warehouse team leader position.

The Role

Fergys is seeking a warehouse 2IC to join our small warehouse team and assist the warehouse supervisor handle our day to day operations at our bakery and warehouse facility in Dandenong South, and also in our other facility in Keysborough. This professional multitasker will help oversee receiving, handling, storing, picking, and packing activities within the bakery. You will ensure the warehouse area is safe, clean and organised, ensuring quality standards are met at every turn, and assist with the implementation of efficiencies within the warehouse.

The ideal candidate is hands-on and detail-oriented and able to track multiple facets of the warehouse at any given time. You will also drive and assist with programs designed to achieve inventory accuracy, coordinate orders, and improve shipping times, ultimately overseeing the fulfilment of large volumes of product orders every year.

Proposed Position Description & Responsibilities

A minimum of 3+ years of total warehouse experience is required to effectively fulfil these responsibilities.

1. Report directly to the Warehouse Supervisor

2. Supervise and assist in managing warehouse tasks and personnel including, but not limited to:

· warehouse assistants

· drive forklift when required (10% of the shift)

· drive small trucks when required

· heavy vehicle licence an advantage

· infrequent weekend work, as required

· able to work in the freezer (5% of the shift)

· warehouse and freezer stock takes

· receiving/ dispatch processes

· coordinate truck and delivery pick-ups for distribution.

· learn to place ingredient orders

· pick packing procedures

1. Inventory control, maintaining accuracy

2. Monitor warehouse efficiency, including:

· Procedures

· Stock Levels

· Computer system

1. Hold, and maintain valid Australian [Victorian] High-Risk Work License [LF code]

2. Be flexible with work hours and be able to back up other team members with different shift times when they are sick or on vacation

3. Other tasks as directed by the CEO/General Manager/Warehouse Supervisor that falls within the scope of Logistics & Wholesale Sales.

4. Manage and inspire staff to be motivated and productive in our high-tempo, dynamic business

5. Excellent English, spoken and written

6. Energetic and a can-do attitude

7. A sense of humour

8. Ability to work well within a small team, and coordinate daily with other key staff and managers

9. Physically fit and able to lift 25kg

Current forklift and car licence required

A full car licence is required for this position.
