About the Position:

Shire of Broome Rangers form a tight knit team that provides an essential service to the Broome community as well as visitors.  The team is gaining strength, and an opportunity has now arisen for an Assistant Ranger to join the team.  Supported by the Coordinator and Ranger team the position forms an integral part of the Shire's service profile. The Assistant Ranger works in the community with a wide range of activities and duties including but not limited to animal management, vehicle management covering parking and off-road vehicle control, litter, illegal camping and community safety more generally.  Joining the team as an Assistant Ranger means you'll be supported through formal and on the job training, all the while making the Shire a cleaner, safer and more pleasant place in which to live and visit.

This is a trainee position, and the successful applicant will become authorized under various legislation to take enforcement action and issue infringements were considered necessary.

This is a permanent full-time position, the availability to work weekends will be required.

About You:

As an Assistant Ranger, you'll be setting up a new career pathway.  You'll be comfortable working in the community and with people from all walks of life, influencing and at times persuading people in the choices they make – for their own safety, the safety of others, the appropriate care and management of animals, and the general order of the community.  If you have a happy outlook on life, want to enjoy the relaxed lifestyle Broome has to offer and contribute to a better community, this might be the opening you've been waiting for.  Experience in a similar position such as animal management or community services will be advantageous but is not a requirement for this position.
