About the role

We are seeking an experienced Excavator Operator to join our growing team at D & K Lawson Plumbing in Toowoomba, Queensland. As an Excavator Operator, you will play a vital role in our construction projects, ensuring efficient and safe site preparation and earthmoving operations. This is a full-time position that offers opportunities for career development in a dynamic and collaborative work environment.

What you'll be doing

  • Operate and maintain excavation equipment such as hydraulic excavators, track loaders and Bobcats

  • Carry out site preparation, demolition, and trenching tasks as directed by Supervisors

  • Ensure proper and safe operation of equipment, identifying and reporting any issues or maintenance needs

  • Collaborate with the construction team to coordinate efficient workflow

  • Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies to maintain a safe work environment

What we're looking for

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as an Excavator Operator in the construction industry

  • Formal qualifications or certification in operating construction equipment, such as a Cert III in Civil Construction

  • Strong understanding of construction methods, site preparation techniques, and equipment maintenance

  • Ability to read and interpret plans and understanding levels

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail

  • Commitment to workplace safety and a proactive approach to risk management

  • Effective communication and teamwork skills

  • Minimum HC Open truck licence is an advantage but not essential

  • Experience operating Truck and Dog trailers an advantage but not essential

  • Valid White Card (Construction Induction Card)

  • Current excavator ticket/VOC/RII certification

  • Must have valid Australian work rights

  • Valid Australian Driver's Licence required
