Cafe Styx are looking for an experienced and passionate Chef to join our dynamic team in Dawes point, NSW. As our Chef, you will be responsible for creating and delivering exceptional culinary experiences for our clients. This is a full-time permanent role, offering the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and contribute to the growth and success of our catering business.
What you'll be doing
- Plan, prepare, and present high-quality, innovative dishes that showcase your culinary expertise and creativity
- Manage the daily operations of the kitchen, ensuring efficient workflow, maintaining food safety and hygiene standards, and monitoring inventory
- Collaborate with the events team to understand client requirements and translate them into exceptional dining experiences
- Train and mentor junior kitchen staff, fostering a positive and productive team environment
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and implement new techniques, flavours and presentation styles
- Assist with menu development and pricing to ensure profitability and customer satisfaction Calculating costs and liaising with suppliers
- Directing kitchen operations and managing kitchen staff
- Overseeing the food preparation, cooking and cleaning processes
- Delegating tasks and resolving issues as they arise
- Ensuring compliance with hygiene and health and safety regulations
- Liaising with the general manager to ensure operations run smoothly
- Ensuring all ingredients are fresh and meet quality standards
What we're looking for
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a Chef in a high-volume, restaurant environment
- Strong technical cooking skills and a deep understanding of food, flavour combinations and plating techniques
- Excellent time management and organisational skills to handle multiple tasks and deliver consistent results
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and effectively communicate with owners
- Passion for creating visually appealing and delicious dishes that exceed customer expectations
- Proficiency in budget management and cost control
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in a commercial kitchen setting
- Have a confident, positive and can-do attitude
