Community Home Australia is opening our new supported living community, Kora House in Westmead, directly opposite Westmead Hospital. Train, bus and light rail at the door.

THIS ROLE REQUIRES THE APPLICANT TO HOLD THE UNIT OF COMPETENCY HLTHSP007 - ADMINISTER & MONITOR MEDICATIONS. This qualification is the minimum requirement to administer medications in Australia.

Kora House is a brand new building with 20 self contained studio apartments with an amazing rooftop terrace. Next door to Kora House is Club Kinta, a community day program centre. Successful applicaants will be offered roles across both the supported accomodation and day program.

Community Home Australia is a specialist younger onset dementia provider delivering permanent care, respite care and day programs across Canberra. We offer staffing ratios of 1:3 seven days a week in a non-institutional setting.

We have our own enterprise agreement with Fair Work Australia that offers significantly better wages and entitlements to all other providers in the sector.

All applicants must :

  • hold a Certificate IV in Aged Care or Disability (or equivalent)
  • have a desire to work with people living with dementia or disability with a mental health background
  • have completed training in medication administration and have experience administering medications
  • have a desire and willingness to complete ongoing education and training
  • be currently living in Australia
  • have authority to work in Australia

The role is a combination of direct care work, activities and household tasks including cleaning, laundry and food preparation. We require all staff to display flexibility and a willingness to engage with our guests to enable them to live their lives as they wish.

Kora House is managed by full time Registered Nurses who will provide supervision and clinical support. Registered Nurse support is available 7 days per week.
