Koori Mental Health Liaison Officer (KMHLO) - Infant Child Youth Area Mental Health Wellbeing Service - Indigenous Community Development Worker Level 1 / 2 (dependant on qualifications)

The KMHLO will be a valued member of the Infant Child Youth Area Mental Health Wellbeing Service to undertake and improve access to mental health service for Aboriginal young people, their families, and carers, and support the delivery of clinical, cultural, and spiritual healing journeys. We are actively seeking candidates who meet the following requirements to apply for this exceptional opportunity.

  • Support engagement of children, young people, and their families in ICY-MHWS and linkage to appropriate community services.
  • Contributing to the identification of service gaps and systemic issues that may impact upon service access for the Aboriginal young people and their families and the community, and support implementation of strategies to address the identified service gaps.
  • Be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent and be accepted by the Aboriginal community.

Mental Health Services at Albury Wodonga Health

AWH is an Area Mental Health and Wellbeing Service, providing mental health treatment, care and support, including delivering Alcohol and Other Drugs services. We deliver 10 specialised community-based programs, along with three acute care services and three facilities dedicated to recovery and rehabilitation. We also provide services supporting families coping with parental mental illness and facilitating connections to carer consultants.
Our Mental Health and Wellbeing teams comprise mental health clinicians with a background in nursing, occupational therapy, social work, and psychology, all of whom have experience in helping people through a range of therapies. The diversity of our service provides a range of experiences for our team and will assist you in expanding and embedding your clinical practice skills.
