About the Role

The Consumer Peer Worker will be a valued member of the Lived & Living Experience Workforce based in our Jarrah Parc Program, the role and responsiblities for this position are as follows:

Intentionally draw upon personal lived/living experiences of mental ill health, psychological distress, alcohol and other drug (AOD) use/dependence, and/or suicidality.Provide practical, social, and emotional support to consumers by sharing their lived/living experiences of mental health service use and periods of recovery/healing.

 We are actively seeking candidates who meet the following requirements to apply for this exceptional opportunity.

Personal lived/living experiences of mental ill health, psychological distress, alcohol and other drug (AOD) use/dependence, and/or suicidality.Personal lived/living experiences of mental health service use and periods of recovery/healingRecognition and understanding of how your lived/living experiences can be used to support consumersAbility to share your consumer perspective to support the work of the multi-disciplinary team to ensure practice is consumer-led, recovery-oriented and trauma-informed.

Mental Health Services at Albury Wodonga Health

AWH is an Area Mental Health and Wellbeing Service, providing mental health treatment, care and support, including delivering Alcohol and Other Drugs services. We deliver 10 specialised community-based programs, along with three acute care services and three facilities dedicated to recovery and rehabilitation. We also provide services supporting families coping with parental mental illness and facilitating connections to carer consultants.
Our Mental Health and Wellbeing teams comprise mental health clinicians with a background in nursing, occupational therapy, social work, and psychology, all of whom have experience in helping people through a range of therapies. The diversity of our service provides a range of experiences for our team and will assist you in expanding and embedding your clinical practice skills.
