About the role:

Are you ready to make a real impact? This is your chance to leverage your Product Ownership knowledge and advanced influencing skills to shape the future of Product Ownership at Suncorp, driving innovation, and ensuring delivery excellence across the enterprise.

You will be responsible for establishing and evolving the Product Owner Chapter, as well as designing and implementing Suncorp's Product Ownership Framework and Capability Uplift Program. This role provides virtual leadership (no direct-reporting lines) to Product Owners across Australia and New Zealand, ensuring the maturity, consistency, and strategic alignment of product ownership practices.

We're looking for a leader with strong people management skills, adept at influencing at senior leadership level, able to work autonomously and inspires teams to achieve their full potential.

What you'll do:

Build and Lead the Product Owner Chapter

• Provide virtual leadership to Product Owners across Suncorp Australia and New Zealand.
• Establish and evolve the Product Owner Chapter, ensuring alignment with enterprise frameworks and agility principles.
• Define and embed tools, frameworks, and standards that support mastery in product ownership, including the creation of Suncorp's Product Ownership Framework

Capability Uplift

• Establish a Product Owner Capability Framework to measure capability maturity and identify areas for uplift
• Lead an enterprise-wide Product Owner Capability Uplift Program, including coaching, mentoring, and structured development pathways.
• Identify skill gaps and implement strategies to close them through training, peer learning, and external benchmarking.

Collaborate and Influence

• Foster a strong sense of community, collaboration, and continuous improvement among Product Owners

• Engage with and influence stakeholders across the business to strengthen product ownership capability

What you'll bring:

• Exceptional ability to build, influence, and maintain strong relationships with senior stakeholders and business partners.
• 3–5 years of hands-on experience as a Product Owner or similar with deep expertise in product ownership practices, including backlog refinement, prioritisation, and customer-centric delivery
• Certified training in Agile methodologies such as Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager (PO/PM), or equivalent.
• Proven ability to align product outcomes with strategic business goals.
• 2–4 years of leadership experience, including leading cross-functional or virtual teams in Agile environments.
• Demonstrated experience in mentoring, coaching, and developing Product Owners, either formally through direct reports or informally through community leadership.
• Experience working in financial services, preferably within the insurance sector, with an understanding of regulatory and customer expectations in that domain.
