Role Summary

The Senior Data Engineer will be responsible for developing and maintaining the data and analytics platform, with a focus on building scalable data pipelines and optimising data architecture. The position involves working across multiple functions to ensure data structures and processing solutions meet business and compliance requirements, while enabling effective decision-making and analytics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop data engineering assets and feature engineering frameworks to support business data needs and data science activities.
  • Create, maintain, and optimise data pipeline architecture.
  • Develop ETL solutions using Python, Databricks, Spark, and Microsoft Azure technologies.
  • Evaluate feature importance and manage the production of data features.
  • Implement solutions that align with architecture and data governance best practices.
  • Deliver batch and real-time data pipelines that improve data accessibility and insights.

Required Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in data engineering, information architecture, and data platform design.
  • Strong understanding of data warehouse architectures, ETL, batch designs, and parallel processing.
  • Proficiency in data mapping and modelling (3NF, Star-schema, Big Tables, Columnar, Key-value pair, JSON documents).
  • Experience working with large datasets, ensuring data quality, and applying sound data governance.
  • Practical experience in building data streams, batch, and real-time pipelines.

Preferred Experience

  • Familiarity with Azure Cloud technologies including Azure Synapse and Azure Databricks.
  • Experience in data management, solution architecture, and delivery.
  • Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform.
