Technical Specialist – Integration

Seeking an experienced technical specialist for Sunshine Superhub Project (SSP)

452 Flinders Street

Newly created. 2-Year Fixed-Term

Are you a seasoned technical expert in rail integration looking for a critical interface role that demands exceptional stakeholder engagement at the highest level?

As Technical Specialist – Integration, you will contribute to major projects like the Sunshine Superhub Project (SSP), collaborating across teams and stakeholders to drive strategic alignment and deliver key outcomes for Victoria's rail infrastructure.

If you are an accomplished specialist with the ability to navigate complex interfaces and foster collaboration, this is your opportunity to lead at the forefront of transformational projects.

About the Role

As Technical Specialist – Integration, you will play a pivotal role in providing strategic oversight across integration activities, ensuring alignment with V/Line's obligations and operational requirements.

Your expertise will be integral to collaborating with stakeholders including the LXRP Integration Team and the Department of Transport and Planning (DTP), ensuring seamless integration across major rail projects.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Evaluating the technical merit of design options to support the development of preferred concept designs and Targeted Out-Turn Cost (TOC) solutions for project packages
  • Supporting the development of robust Project Integration and Assurance strategies, ensuring V/Line satisfies its Safety Management System and Rail Safety Obligations
  • Aligning V/Line's requirements with other Accredited Rail Transport Operators (ARTOs) and ensuring integration with regional projects and objectives
  • Supporting designs throughout the entire project lifecycle, addressing considerations such as environmental impact, planning, land acquisition, disruptions, and maintainability
  • Contributing to continuous improvement by identifying industry best practices and integrating innovative systems and technologies
  • Managing multi-disciplinary interfaces across V/Line, delivery partners, government agencies, and other operators to ensure smooth project delivery
  • Providing high-level strategic advice to executives and steering committees, supporting effective decision-making and governance
  • Resolving emerging issues and risks while ensuring alignment of operational objectives across all involved stakeholders

This role operates with a high level of autonomy, working closely with the Director and key project partners to deliver on V/Line's broader strategic goals.

About You

To thrive in this role, you will be a technical rail specialist with:

  • A tertiary qualification or equivalent senior professional experience in Engineering (eg. structures, track & civil, or signalling), Project Management, Construction, or a related field
  • Extensive senior experience leading complex programs of work related to operational management systems or system integration, ideally in rail
  • Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams to deliver complex projects and achieve business outcomes
  • Knowledge of relevant policies and legislation impacting rail projects, and familiarity with systems and tools that support project assurance, governance, and controls
  • A strong technical background with the ability to read, interpret, and translate complex technical information into clear, actionable advice for diverse audiences

You bring to this opportunity a performance-driven career shaped by success in complex, high-stakes environments. Your professional offering includes:

  • Cross-functional stakeholder engagement, fostering collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders at the highest levels, including government agencies and delivery partners
  • The ability to anticipate and address emerging issues strategically and in a timely manner, while managing risks and influencing outcomes
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to negotiate, consult, and build long-term partnerships
  • The capability to lead, mentor, and coach others, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and high performance
  • A commitment to maintaining safety standards and driving operational excellence through best-practice processes and governance

If you're ready to bring your expertise to V/Line and work on some of the most important projects in Victoria's rail network, we want to hear from you.
