Court Services Victoria provides corporate services and facilities to support the performance of the judicial, quasi-judicial and administrative functions of Victoria's courts and tribunal, Judicial College and Judicial Commission. Collectively, Victoria's Supreme, County, Magistrates', Children's, and Coroners courts, the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT), the Judicial College of Victoria, the Judicial Commission of Victoria, and Court Services Victoria (CSV) are referred to as the `Courts Group'.
The Magistrates' Court of Victoria (MCV) is the first level of the Victorian court system and is a jurisdiction within the Court Services Victoria. It has a long history of providing justice for the people of Victoria in metropolitan and regional courts across the state. The Court determines in excess of 300,000 cases per annum at 51 locations, equating to approximately 90 percent of all cases that come before Victorian courts each year. The Court aims to be an innovative, accessible, and responsive court that provides quality services to the Victorian community.
About the role
Lead the Court's response to family violence and make a meaningful impact in your community.
The Family Violence Registrar plays a critical role in supporting court users involved in proceedings arising from or including allegations of family violence. This position provides specialist advice, builds strong relationships with stakeholders, and ensures the effective coordination of services to improve outcomes for vulnerable individuals.
As a Family Violence Registrar, you will:
- Act as a specialist point of contact for court users and liaise with legal and non-legal support services.
- Coordinate cases within the family violence and intervention order jurisdiction.
- Lead and supervise the Court's family violence team within your region.
- Build and maintain relationships with community services and agencies to promote collaboration and information sharing.
- Prepare reports, briefings, and correspondence on complex family violence issues.
- Contribute to statewide consistency through the Family Violence Registrar network.
- Drive local initiatives to improve service delivery and operational practices.
The Family Violence Registrar contributes to the Court's response to family violence, working alongside the judiciary, court registrars, support workers, police, legal services and other support services to effectively manage cases involving victims and perpetrators of family violence.
About you
- Must be a qualified Court Registrar.
- Demonstrated understanding of the nature and dynamics of family violence and the operation of the family violence jurisdiction within the Magistrates' Court of Victoria.
- Strong leadership skills with experience in building, motivating, and managing teams.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and planning capabilities.
- Ability to influence and negotiate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
