Primary objective
To develop and communicate water allocation plans, in line with the Water Act 1992.
Key duties and responsibilities
Develop, promote, implement and review water allocation plans and associated documents in accordance with the
Northern Territory water regulatory framework.
Liaise with multi-disciplinary team of technical experts across the division and department to solve problems, prepare
and communicate technical information, and contribute to water resource management activities and plans.
Contribute to annual water resource reports for priority resources.
Develop and document water allocation processes and procedures.
Prepare and present technical and planning information to water advisory committees and to community engagement
events to improve understanding of water management in the Territory.
Selection criteria
Essential
Degree in environmental science, natural resource management or similar tertiary qualification relevant to the key duties
and responsibilities.
Knowledge of water resource planning, environmental assessment or relevant processes.
Ability to translate and simplify complex technical information from multi-disciplinary experts and research to provide
clear advice and recommendations.
Proven problem-solving skills and demonstrated application of project management skills to meet competing demands
the deliver outcomes within defined timeframes.
Well-developed interpersonal and oral communication skills, including presentation skills and the ability to effectively
facilitate meetings with a broad range of people.
Proven ability to develop and maintain respectful working relationships with team members, other teams, colleagues
and stakeholders.
Desirable
Experience in data management and analysis, including manipulation and presentation of data using Excel and
Geographic Information Systems such as ArcGIS or QGIS or similar.
Understanding of water resource management principles and regulatory environments relating to water resources.

Primary objective
Lead and coordinate integrated catchment scale water allocation plans in line with the Water Act 1992. Supporting the development and
delivery of the Northern Territory Government, the Department and the Division's strategic objectives and priorities.

Selection criteria
Essential

Proven knowledge of water resource planning, environmental assessment and hydrological/hydrogeological processes.
Extensive experience in translating and simplifying complex technical information from multi-disciplinary experts and research to
provide clear advice and recommendations.
Proven experience in solving complex policy problems and applying project and program management skills to meet competing
demands to deliver outcomes within defined timeframes.
Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills, including presentation skills and the ability to effectively facilitate meetings with
a broad range of people, including Aboriginal people.
Proven ability to develop and maintain respectful working relationships with team members, other teams, colleagues and stakeholders.
Leadership experience with managing and mentoring staff and team members.
Desirable
Experience with, and oversight of, data management and analysis including manipulation and presentation of data using Excel and
Geographic Information Systems such as ArcGIS or QGIS or similar.
Highly developed understanding of water resource management principles and regulatory environments relating to water resources.
