Position Information

Sydney Technical High School is an academically selective school for boys with a current enrolment of 905 students. Entry is on merit through the NSW selective schools test prior to Year 7. We pride ourselves on an academically rigorous setting and 100% of our HSC graduates attend university. Despite these outstanding results, our school is committed to pursuing continual improvement in all of our students' literacy and numeracy competencies as we know how crucial they are to learning and indeed, throughout life. The school draws on students from a wide area who travel from many different parts of Sydney and represent many primary school backgrounds. Students have a strong sense of belonging with retention rates of approximately 98% or higher and proudly represent many cultural backgrounds - 94% of students are from a non-English speaking background.

Selection Criteria
  1. Approval to teach Music 7–12 (including Music 1 and Music 2). Willingness to teach Music Extension.
  2. Demonstrated ability to plan dynamic and engaging pedagogy and assessment to cater for the diverse needs of high potential and gifted students and drive improvement in student outcomes.
  3. Strong skills in creating a positive learning environment through organising, directing, and supporting music ensembles, bands, choirs, or other performance groups, encouraging participation and achievement at a range of skill levels. strengthen the school's co-curricular music culture.
Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
