Synechron is seeking a highly experiencedSenior Data Engineerwith strong expertise inAb Initio,Unix/Linux, and enterprise-scaleETL/data integrationto support a critical data transformation program for a Big 4 banking client in Sydney. This role involves hands-on development, mentoring, and leading technical troubleshooting for complex data pipelines and batch processes.Key Responsibilities:Design, develop, and maintain robust ETL pipelines using Ab Initio and other data integration tools.Apply strong Unix/Linux scripting skills to support data workflows and automation.Demonstrate expertise in coding, debugging, and performance tuning of large-scale data solutions.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, production-ready software with comprehensive test coverage.Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior team members.Promote and implement industry best practices in data engineering and software development.Estimate development effort for new features and enhancements.Lead Level 3+ support and drive resolution of complex production issues and root cause analysis.Required Skills & Experience:5+ years of hands-on experience in data engineering and ETL development .Strong proficiency in Ab Initio , including GDE, EME, and Co>Operating System.Solid experience with Unix/Linux environments and shell scripting.Proven ability to work independently and deliver high-quality solutions.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Experience in estimating development efforts and managing delivery timelines.Ability to lead technical support and troubleshooting in production environments.Preferred Qualifications:Experience in banking or financial services domains.Familiarity with data governance , data quality , and metadata management .Exposure to cloud-based data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) is a plus.Why Join Synechron?Be part of a high-impact data transformation initiative with one of Australia's top banks.Work in a collaborative, innovation-driven environment.Access to global expertise, cutting-edge tools, and career development opportunities.
