Kyst Engineering Pty Ltd was founded in 2005 by Steven and Kylie Donnelly, Kyst Engineering offers innovative structural steel and metal fabrication services, backed by over 70 years of combined experience. The company specializes in projects of all sizes, fabricating and installing up to 3,000 tonnes of steel annually, particularly for large warehouse structures. Kyst is QBCC licensed, SCA Construction Category 2 accredited, and has been a member of the Australian Steel Institute since 2020. They also provide fully insured mobile units for on-site work.

As we continue to grow, we are seeking a skilled and dedicated Welder/Boilermaker to join our team.

Responsibilities:

• Marks off and fabricates structural steel.

Duties:

• Blueprints & Planning: Study blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine job requirements.
• Material Preparation: Select, clean, and prepare metal stock for fabrication. Cut marked metal sections and shapes using hand tools, flame cutting torches, and metal cutting machines.
• Shaping & Forming: Shape and bend metal sections and pipes using hand and machine tools, including heating and hammering. Align parts to be joined using hand tools and measuring instruments.
• Joining & Assembly: Join metal sections using various welding techniques.
• Quality Control: Examine welds for proper bead width, penetration, and overall precision.
• Finishing & Smoothing: Clean and smooth welds through filing, chiseling, and grinding.

Qualifications:

• AQF Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training
• AQF Certificate IV (ANZSCO Skill Level 3)

Experience:

• At least 3 years of experience in Structural Steel
• Experience with various welding techniques (MIG, TIG, etc.) and familiarity with metal cutting and shaping equipment.

Skills and Attributes:

• Strong understanding of metalworking techniques, including the ability to interpret complex blueprints and technical drawings.
• Excellent manual dexterity, attention to detail, and the ability to work precisely and efficiently.
• Strong commitment to safety, reliability, and quality in all aspects of work.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
• Physical stamina and the ability to work in a demanding environment.
• Forklift licence an advantage
