SENIOR PASTRY CHEF / TEAM LEADER
Location: New York Cakes, Sydney
New York Cakes is a leading dessert and savoury wholesaler, supplying premium cakes and desserts ,savoury's to cafés, clubs, and restaurants across the hospitality industry.
We are looking for an experienced and passionate Senior Pastry Chef / Team Leader to join our dynamic team. This role is ideal for a skilled pastry professional who thrives in a fast-paced production environment and enjoys leading and mentoring a team to deliver exceptional products.
THE ROLE
Full-time | Monday – Friday | 8 AM Start
As the Senior Pastry Chef / Team Leader, you will play a critical role in managing daily pastry production, maintaining high product quality, and leading your team to achieve operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
· Lead and supervise one of the following teams: Pastry, Tart, Pie & Roll, Cake Finishing, or Baking, providing guidance and support.
· Coordinate daily production schedules to meet targets and deadlines efficiently.
· Oversee the preparation, baking, and finishing of cakes, desserts, and pastries.
· Ensure product consistency and quality control across all items.
· Train, mentor, and develop junior pastry chefs and team members.
· Collaborate with management on recipe development and process improvements.
· Manage workflows, ensuring production targets are met without compromising quality.
· Maintain food safety and hygiene standards in line with company policies.
ABOUT YOU
· To be successful in this role, you will need to:
· Have 3+ years of pastry/food production experience, including 1+ years in a leadership role.
· Be confident in leading a team, providing clear instructions, and managing workflows.
· Possess excellent time management and organisational skills.
· Be proactive with a solutions-focused approach to problem-solving.
· Show a strong commitment to food safety, quality, and hygiene standards.
· Be a team player with a positive attitude and a genuine passion for pastry.
