About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled DV Support Worker to join our team on a part-time basis, delivering court support and case management services for women from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds who are impacted by domestic and family violence.

This role will play a vital part in improving access to the justice system for women experiencing systemic barriers.

You will provide support, coordinate referrals, and deliver safety planning, psycho-educational counselling, and practical assistance, while ensuring services are culturally safe and accessible.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist women with preparing DVO applications, LAQ forms, police reporting, liaising with police, and legal services.
  • Deliver case management, risk assessments, safety planning, psycho-educational counselling, referrals, and ongoing practical support.
  • Provide specialist DFV information and education to stakeholders, CALD communities and leaders.
  • Build and strengthen referral pathways with QPS, legal providers, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate case notes and records and perform administrative requirements.

About You

You are a strong advocate for women's safety and rights, with a proven ability to engage sensitively with CALD communities. You can balance case management, community engagement, and court support for women navigating the justice system.

Essential skills & experience:

  • Knowledge of domestic & family violence, including coercive control and intersectional barriers.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of specialist DFV Court.
  • Experience providing case management, crisis support, and advocacy in community, and legal settings.
  • Ability to work with CALD women and families in a culturally responsive and trauma-informed way.
  • Strong understanding of referral pathways across QPS, legal services, and community supports.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and documentation skills.

Desirable:

  • Lived experience or background in CALD communities.
  • Multilingual skills an advantage but not essential.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Counselling, or related field.
