Senior Corporate Counsel

We are seeking an individual to join Aon's legal team – based in Sydney as a Senior Corporate Counsel.

The Senior Corporate Counsel (Commercial Legal team) will be a member of the Aon Law Division reporting to the Head of Commercial Law. The Senior Corporate Counsel will provide professional support to the Head of Commercial Law and the Commercial Legal team involving primarily commercial and transactional legal services.

What Your Day Will Look Like
  • Reviewing, drafting and negotiating a range of commercial agreements ensuring that agreed terms are consistent with Aon Group's risk profile.
  • Providing legal and compliance guidance and advice to the Business on diverse matters for projects, strategy plans, service offerings, operational challenges and policies and procedures.
  • Monitoring statutory positions, regulatory guidelines, judicial decrees and providing legal guidance to the Business and Compliance team, including identifying and analysing new legislative and regulatory requirements and providing gap analyses against current practises.
  • Solving unique and complex problems calling for conceptual and innovative thinking and problem solving.
  • Communicating legal requirements effectively to the Business, including persuading and negotiating optimal outcomes.
  • Development of, and assistance with, internal training.
  • Building collaborative and productive working relationships with colleagues and other stakeholders within and outside Aon.
  • Good time management and interpersonal skills.
  • Representing Aon as its ambassador in a positive manner and robustly promoting Aon's values and leadership model.

Skills And Experience That Will Lead To Success
  • 4 years Post-Qualified Experience in a top or middle tier law firm and/or in-house legal department.
  • Previous relevant financial services, insurance services and commercial law experience preferred.
  • Experience working in a high performing and fast-paced team required.
  • Strong analytic skills, including the ability to analyse and discern issues and risks and propose solutions.
  • Ability to work efficiently and accurately and manage multiple engagements, processes and competing priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong communication skills with ability to work with others under pressure and to resolve conflict in a constructive manner.
  • Be culturally sensitive and empathetic across all levels of Aon.
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate ideas to sophisticated internal clients together with ability to persuade and negotiate effectively.
  • Ability to process delicate and highly confidential information with discretion.
  • A proactive and self-disciplined approach.
