About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Quality and Testing Manager to lead and manage all testing activities across the Education Management Transformation Program (EMTP).

The Education Management Transformation Program is a multi-year program to uplift the NT Department of Education's ICT environment to support the implementation of a Student Centric Management Solution including the consolidation of data and reporting facilities from several legacy and nonconforming systems within the education ICT ecosystem.

This role will define and implement test strategies, establish testing frameworks and tools; and lead a team of test analysts to ensure the quality and success of program deliverables.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The Quality & Testing Manager will work closely with EMTP leadership, business stakeholders, vendors, and technical/functional teams to deliver high-quality testing outcomes. The Quality & Testing Manager will:


• Develop and maintain the program wide Test Strategy, Test Plans, Test Cases and Test Summary Reports.


• Define and implement testing frameworks and processes.


• Implement a test automation suite and approach.


• Implement tools and processes to document test cases, execute testing activities and manage issues/defects.


• Lead, mentor and manage a team of test analysts and automation testers.


• Plan, schedule and oversee all testing activities across the program phases.

Essential Skills and Experience


• Demonstrated experience as a Test Manager or Senior Test Lead on a large ICT program.


• Strong background in developing and executing test strategies, plans and reports.


• Demonstrated experience in establishing test frameworks and quality assurance standards.


• Experience in establishing test automation frameworks.


• Proficient in test and defect management tools e.g. Jira.


• Experience in leading and managing test phase and types, including functional, regression, system, data migration, reports, integration, UAT, performance and security testing activities.


• Experience in leading and managing the testing of large Data Migrations.


• Demonstrated experience in leading and managing testing teams.


• Demonstrated background in managing heavily integrated test environments for optimal testing outcomes.


• Proven ability to manage priorities, risks and timelines in a complex ICT implementation.

Desirable Skills and Experience


• A minimum 5 years of demonstrable experience in a Test Manager / Senior Test Lead role.


• Experience working in the education sector within government.


• Possess relevant certification such as ISTQB.


• Experience in testing activities for a COTS based solution.


• Experience with SmartBear - TestComplete automation tool.
