Position Overview

The Duty Manager plays a hands-on leadership role in the daily operations of the Harrington Hotel. This position supports the General Manager by overseeing staff, ensuring compliance with all regulatory obligations, and maintaining smooth day-to-day venue operations. The role requires an experienced, customer-focused professional with strong people management, operational, and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily operations across bar, bistro, gaming, and accommodation areas.
  • Lead by example to deliver exceptional customer service and uphold Hunt Hospitality's service standards.
  • Manage and mentor front-of-house and bar staff during service periods.
  • Handle cash balancing, banking, and end-of-day reporting accurately.
  • Ensure compliance with all NSW Liquor & Gaming, WHS, and RSA/RCG regulations.
  • Open and close the venue, ensuring security and operational readiness.
  • Support rostering, stock control, and supplier coordination as directed by the General Manager.
  • Resolve customer issues or complaints professionally and efficiently.
  • Assist with planning and execution of events, promotions, and community activations.
  • Foster a positive team culture focused on professionalism, safety, and engagement.

Skills and Attributes

  • Proven leadership in a hospitality environment (hotel, pub, club, or restaurant).
  • Strong customer service orientation and communication skills.
  • Sound knowledge of bar, gaming, and restaurant operations.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to multitask under pressure.
  • Ability to lead, coach, and motivate a diverse team.
  • Reliable, proactive, and solutions-driven approach.
  • Professional presentation and strong interpersonal skills.

Qualifications and Experience

  • NSW RSA and RCG competency cards (essential).
  • Minimum 2-3 years' experience in a supervisory or duty management role.
  • Experience in gaming operations, POS systems (Idealpos preferred), and cash handling.
  • Knowledge of WHS and Liquor & Gaming compliance requirements.
