We look forward to welcoming a Technical Leader who will lead projects with cutting-edge AI technologies and pave the way for innovative practices
See yourself in our team:
The Data & Analytics (D&A) team partners with colleagues across Bankwest to deliver innovative solutions that solve business challenges and unlock new opportunities. Our experts bring deep capability across advanced analytics disciplines, enabling us to reimagine customer experiences through data-driven insights. We are now seeking a dynamic leader to head our Data Science function within the D&A team.
Do work that matters:
AI is central to Bankwest's strategy to create genuinely useful experiences for our customers, and our Data Science team are at the forefront. The Senior Manager Data Science will be responsible for leading our Data Science team, prioritising their work, and managing the stakeholders across the bank.
Key responsibilities:
· Generate and communicate insights aligned to business objectives and relevant to diverse stakeholders and clients, taking into consideration business roles and technical understanding of audiences.
· Lead and manage Data Scientists to achieve their best by creating a high-performance culture, providing guidance and coaching on appropriate modelling and statistical techniques.
· Provide strategic direction to the team and lead multiple projects to create scalable and reliable end-to-end solutions for our customers, prioritising with business stakeholders and balancing long-term objectives versus immediate delivery.
· Design and implement more complex machine learning solutions, handling larger datasets, tuning models for better performance, and working on sophisticated problems.
We're interested in hearing from people who have:
We use a broad range of Technical tools; we don't expect you to know them all but having significant experience and exposure with some of these (or equivalents) will set you up for success in this team
· Proven expertise as a Lead Data Scientist who has ability to lead and inspire a high-performing data science team.
· Deep expertise in end-to-end model development, including designing, building, and deploying advanced machine learning models to solve complex business challenges.
· Familiarity with various aspects of Generative AI, including prompt engineering, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), guardrail design, orchestration design, and tools such as LangChain and LangGraph.
· Cloud Platforms: Preferred experience using AWS Bedrock, SageMaker, or Microsoft Azure OpenAI platforms.
· Data Platforms: Preferred experience using the Snowflake platform or similar
· Experience with version control and CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub.
· Tertiary Qualification in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science or Computer Science.
Working with us:
Our people bring their diverse backgrounds and unique perspectives to build a respectful, inclusive, and flexible workplace with an ultimate flexibility to work from any of our engineering hubs within Australia. One where we're driven by our values, and supported to share ideas, initiatives, and energy. One where making a positive impact for customers, communities and each other is part of our every day
