The Opportunity

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Estimator who is able to hit the ground running, to join our growing team based in Chadstone. In this role, you will play an integral role in accurately preparing detailed cost estimates, analysing project requirements, coordinating with subcontractors and suppliers, and participating in tender preparation and contract negotiation.

Working closely with our Director, you'll ensure each estimate aligns with project goals and exceeds client expectations. At Sami Strategy Co., we value continuous improvement, so regular feedback and open communication are fundamental to the role.

What you'll be doing

• Examine tender documentation, drawings, and specifications to understand project scope, risks, etc. to review mark-ups and detailed take offs by estimators
• Accurately measure and quantify materials and labour for detailed cost estimates
• Oversee and coordinate several offshore estimators/engineers and provide training as required
• Build and maintain relationships with clients and builders
• Negotiate with builders to win tenders for individual clients. This includes tender meetings with the director, and site visits if required
• Assist with project coordination for tenders won
• Maintain relationships with suppliers

What are we looking for

Essential requirements:

• 6+ years' experiencein residential or commercial estimating within the building and construction industry
• Strong understanding in construction methodologies, trade sequencing, and able to accurately interpreting drawings
• Excellent communication skills, with good time management and organisation skills to manage tasks efficiently
• High attention to detail, ensuring proposals and communication are professional and free from grammatical errors
• System and process driven, with a continuous improvement mindset
• Quick learner who loves a challenging, fast-paced environment and can keep up with a growing company
• Strong work ethic and a can-do attitude

Desirable requirements:

• Project management or coordination experience
• Advanced Bluebeam or Planswift user
• Structural engineering and detailed carpentry knowledge
• Experience managing a team
